  Here is a mod for the Realistic HTX-202 handheld radios that 
will open the rx audio bandwith by bypassing the rx audio filter.

Here is what to do.
  1.Remove batteries,power,antennas,mics,etc
  2.Remove belt clip and 5 screws that hold the back on
  3.Remove back 
  4.Looking on the pcb with the bottom toward you,look for 2 resistors
    and 2 ceramic caps in line with 2 tantalum caps to the left of 
    the MC3371D ic.R42 is the 10k ohm resistor in that row
  5.The audio filter module connections are the 6 pins left of the row of
    resistors and caps.pin 1 is toward the bottom of the radio
  6.Carefully cut the trace between R42 and pin 4 of the module
  7.Connect jumper wire between the R42 side of the cut trace to pin 1 of the
    module.
  8.Reverse steps 1-3 to reassemble radio

 You should now have full audio bandwidth and the radio will perform much
better on packet.
